One of Gotham City’s biggest mysteries is concerning the city’s population and why they continue to reside. There is explanation to it by a small Catwoman detail seen in The Batman. The comic book Batman has spoken about the tenacity and drive of Gotham residents who keep returning to the city, regardless of which evil has lately gained control. The genuine reality of The Batman, on the other hand, is considerably easier.
In The Batman, Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne uncovers a big Gotham plot thanks to the Riddler’s schemes and clues. Bruce crosses paths with Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. The kidnapping of Selina’s girlfriend Annika forces the two to work together. One of Selina’s past-due bills was seen by Bruce. Surprisingly, Catwoman’s monthly rent is a mere $492.
Catwoman’s details make Matt Reeves’ Gotham more interesting
Such a low rent in such a large city is unusual. This connects the dots. It makes sense given that Gotham is one of the most crime-ridden places in the DC Universe, with a high fatality rate. People continue to live in Gotham despite the dangers because the rent is so low. In an alternate reality, Gotham could have been a lot better if Thomas and Martha Wayne had lived to see their billion-dollar Gotham Renewal Fund used to help repair the city the way they intended.
Instead, the city’s crime bosses and unscrupulous authorities plundered it year after year. The Waynes were assassinated. Leaving their son Bruce to establish a new one as Batman, defending the citizens of Gotham. It will be intriguing to see more of the city and its role as the Batman franchise progresses with future sequels and spin-off shows.
