Thanks to Adele, Spotify is dropping its auto-shuffle feature and replacing it with a 'play' button

When it comes to Adele’s new album, 30, she has a simple request. Listen to the songs in the sequence she presents them. Spotify agrees and drops the default shuffle option from her latest album. It thus plays album tracks in a particular order, in response to the British superstar’s request.

Adele thanked Spotify for removing the shuffle button as the default option while listening to albums.

“This was the only request I had in our ever-changing industry! We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our tracklisting for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you, Spotify for listening,” Adele tweeted, responding to responding to a post on the Spotify update.

The streaming platform responded to Adele’s post by saying, “Anything for you”.

Spotify’s action follows the November 19 release of the British singer’s highly anticipated album, “30”. The album was released six years after her last chart-topper.

Spotify is the world’s largest streaming service. It stated that songs will play in the order in which they appear on an album. While Spotify drops default shuffle, users can still choose to listen to them in “shuffle” mode.

“As Adele mentioned, we are excited to share that we have begun rolling out a new Premium feature that has been long requested by both users and artists to make play the default button on all albums;” a spokesman for the Swedish company says.

“For those users still wishing to shuffle an album, they can go to the Now Playing View and select the shuffle toggle.”

The album was released four weeks ago. The main song from 30 is “Easy on Me,” which has spent four weeks at the top. It was at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200, and Billboard Global Excl. It is on the top of the UK and U.S. charts. The song was also the most-streamed music on Spotify in a single day in mid-October.

During her CBS primetime television special Adele: One Night Only, Adele sang “Easy on Me”. She also sang three more songs from 30 — “I Drink Wine,” “Hold On,” and “Love is a Game”. It averaged 9.92 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s time-zone-adjusted fast national ratings. Thereby, demonstrating Adele’s continued success as a hitmaker with broad appeal.

Adele, 33, has sold millions of records worldwide and received several accolades, including an Oscar and 15 Grammy Awards.
