Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, have put their wedding plans on hold as they navigate significant challenges in their relationship, a source revealed to Us Weekly.
“Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split,” the insider said on Wednesday. “Things are not great right now, but they aren’t throwing in the towel yet. They are working on their relationship but have called off the wedding for now.”
According to the source, all wedding preparations have come “to a halt,” with the couple currently not engaging in any further discussions about their nuptials. Sweeney, 27, and Davino, 41, who began dating in 2018, were originally “supposed to get married this spring.”
Career pressures and growing tensions
The Euphoria star’s demanding career has reportedly played a major role in the couple’s struggles.
“Sydney wanted to cancel everything and couldn’t handle the stress,” the insider shared, emphasizing that her packed schedule has caused strain in the relationship.
“Sydney is really focused on her career. Jonathan wishes they were able to spend more quality time together,” the source added.
Promotional commitments for her projects have allegedly created additional strain. “Things are also always tense between them when she is promoting a movie because she has to give her full attention to the project, and people always speculate about their relationship and Sydney being close to her costars,” the insider explained.
Signs of a split?
Breakup rumors first surfaced earlier this month when reports emerged that Sweeney and Davino had been living apart for nearly a month. However, just days later, Davino was spotted at Sweeney’s $6 million Los Angeles mansion, leaving fans speculating about the true state of their relationship.
Adding to the speculation, Sweeney recently deleted a photo of Davino from her Instagram. The now-removed post, which had been shared around New Year’s 2025, showed the couple in an intimate embrace, with Davino dipping Sweeney for a kiss.
The pair were last publicly seen together on January 20 while Sweeney was on a break from filming The Housemaid.
What’s next for the couple?
While representatives for Sweeney have not commented on the situation, the future of the couple’s engagement remains uncertain. With career pressures and relationship challenges mounting, only time will tell whether they can reconcile or if their engagement is permanently off the table.
