Now all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are waiting for a new movie with Doctor Strange. The Trailer for Multiverse of Madness is being torn to pieces looking for new references to the original comics. The second solo film of the magic doc is doomed to success. But did you know that there is a little more than one doctor with superpowers in Marvel? While they live on the pages of marvel’s comics and have not yet hit the big screens, they also deserve attention. Let’s see which medical doctors added a superpower or two to their education and probably saved the world once or two
1. Dr. Faiza Hussain
Dr. Faiza Hussaini is also known as Excalibur. The heroine first appears in the “Captain Britain” comics, but as just a doctor without super abilities. It gains its strength after the attack during the Scrulls invasion. Her superpowers are closely linked to her education – she can control living organisms, such as disassembling and assembling the human body, just to see what’s wrong. Author’s note – people survived after that.
In the comics, she appears as a member of MI-13, Champions of Europe, and Mighty Medics.
2. Cecilia Reyes
The heroine appears in stories about X-Men. Cecilia became a doctor after her father was fatally wounded and there was nothing she could do about it. She learned that she had superpowers during the anti-mutant operation Operation: Zero Tolerance.
Reyes is one of the few characters who has gained her superpowers but wants to live a normal life, as a doctor. But she obviously didn’t. Her superpower, the ability to create force fields, was needed to save lives. This is what real doctors do.
3. Doctor Donald Blake
The hero was created as a human alter ego of Thor and first appears in the comic book Journey into Mystery. This series also featured Hulk, another dr with a split personality.
In human form, Blake secretly treated the Avengers members. In a hero form, he was … Thor. For the latter, he needed the legendary hammer Mjolnir, which he accidentally found.
4. Dr. Curtis Connors
This is one of the main enemies of Spider-Man and the first villain on our list. He first appears in The comic Amazing Spider-Man # 6, and was a member of Sinister Six.
Connors was a geneticist who studied reptiles. Its purpose was to reproduce the regeneration of lizards in humans and create a mutant. In one experiment, he tried to recover his lost right arm, but something went wrong. The doctor mutated and became a Lizard.
The character of the Сonnors is very complex. Human consciousness and the Lizard fought with each other. That is why this hero rushes between attempts to turn humanity into a lizard and to be a friend of Spider-Man in his adventures.
5. Linda Carter
She is also known as the Night Nurse. She didn’t have real superpowers, but she was a doctor and she helped – that’s what made her a heroine.
Like Donald Blake, she could lend a helping hand to superheroes in difficult times.
Dr. Strange movie has a reimagined version of Linda – surgeon Christina Palmer.
6. Dr. Anthony Druid
Mystical monster hunter and sorcerer. He is another hero with magical superpowers. Telepathy, telekinesis, hypnosis – make him a strong competitor to other magical doc.
You can guess that the Druid was a psychiatrist doctor by education. He earned an M.D. in Harvard. Also, he was interested in the mystical knowledge of the Celts and Tibetans.
His superpowers were activated after contact with the Ancient One. So in addition to the above, he could become invisible, and even manipulate time. Quite a lot of features for one character.
7. Doctor Stephen Strange
The most trending and important doctor of all. Time manipulations, magically conjured weapons, and other skills in his powers list.
Before the accident, Dr. rescued people with a scalpel. And after meeting the Ancient One, he became a powerful magician who more than once saved our existence.
Even as a man, he amazed his colleagues with his intelligence and the amount of books about dark magic he has read. In the image of the hero, he amazes other heroes with his abilities and strategic skills in the fight against villains.
Conclusion
Sure there are a lot of other superheroes with medical degrees or Ph.D. For example, Bruce Banner and Doctor Octopus are known from the movies. But let’s give a chance to the ones who have not yet hit theaters.
Even after getting superpowers, they continue to help people. They continue to carry out their great mission. This is a very good example of dedication. Yes, comics should not only entertain but also teach good things, which is what docs are still doing in their stories.
I don’t think it’s surprising that one of the docs was able to lift Mjolnir. As only he who is pure in heart can do it. And Captain America of course.
