Santa Fe, New Mexico: The caretaker who discovered the bodies of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, inside their Santa Fe home made a frantic 911 call, pleading with authorities to send help immediately, TMZ reported.
911 call details: “Just send somebody out here!”
“I think we just found two, one deceased person inside the house,” the caller said, according to the 911 recording obtained by the outlet. Identifying himself as the caretaker for the subdivision, he expressed shock and disbelief, repeatedly saying, “Damn, damn, damn,” after spotting the bodies through a window.
When the dispatcher asked him questions, the distressed caller, with a shaky voice, urged, “Just send somebody out here really quick!”
The caretaker directed authorities to Old Sunset Trail, a gated property, stating he would escort them to the home.
Authorities call deaths “suspicious” but rule out foul play
Upon arrival, officials found the home’s door open and unsecured, with orange prescription pill containers scattered across the room.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed the deaths and said that while they do not suspect foul play, the circumstances were suspicious enough to warrant a thorough investigation.
Authorities believe the couple may have been dead for some time before being discovered. The official cause of death remains unknown, pending forensic analysis.
