Mumbai’s iconic Mannat, home to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is set to undergo extensive renovations, prompting the Khan family to temporarily move out. While the news has stirred curiosity among fans, sources confirm that there is no cause for concern.
Mannat set for extensive renovations
Shah Rukh Khan’s palatial sea-facing residence in Bandra has long been a landmark in Mumbai, drawing hundreds of fans daily. However, reports suggest that Khan, along with his wife Gauri Khan, and their children—Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam—will be relocating as the bungalow undergoes major structural extensions and refurbishments.
According to the Hindustan Times, the renovation work is scheduled to commence in May 2025 and will continue for the next couple of years. Since Mannat is a Grade III heritage structure, any modifications require approval from the appropriate authorities. Reports indicate that Khan had to seek permission from the court to proceed with the planned extensions.
Khan’s temporary move to a luxury Pali Hill apartment
While the renovation is underway, Shah Rukh Khan has secured an opulent temporary residence in Mumbai’s upscale Pali Hill area. The actor has rented two luxury duplex apartments in the Puja Casa building, owned by Bollywood’s Bhagnani family. The lease agreement, signed with producer Vashu Bhagnani’s son Jackky Bhagnani and daughter Deepshika Deshmukh, includes four floors of the high-end residential complex—spread across the first, second, seventh, and eighth floors.
Sources suggest that Khan will be paying a staggering monthly rent of ₹24 lakh for the property. The temporary residence will also house his security personnel and household staff. “It is clearly not as capacious as Mannat, but there is enough space to accommodate his security and other staff,” a source told Hindustan Times.
Gauri Khan’s request for additional floors
In November 2024, Gauri Khan sought permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add additional floors to Mannat, in line with the family’s expansion plans. While specific details of the renovations remain under wraps, the upgrades are expected to enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of the historic mansion.
For now, fans may miss catching a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan waving from Mannat’s iconic balcony, but the Bollywood icon’s presence in Mumbai remains strong as he temporarily shifts to his new luxury address in Pali Hill.
