The Scream 2022 first pictures have been released by Paramount Pictures. They feature Neve Campbell’s Sidney, Courteney Cox’s Gale, and David Arquette’s Dewey. The slasher horror franchise began in 1996 with the release of the eponymous film. It was directed by Wes Craven and written by genre veteran Kevin Williamson. It followed Sidney Prescott as she is stalked by a variety of killers dressed in the Ghostface mask. She must rely on the help of her friends, tabloid reporter Gale Weathers, local police officer Dewey Riley, and film buff Randy Meeks, to survive. Only Campbell, Arquette, Cox, and Ghostface voice Roger L. Jackson have appeared in all four films.
The cast will reunite for the new Scream, a reboot of the horror genre. It is a direct sequel to 2011’s Scream 4, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Ready or Not. Melissa Barrera from In the Heights, Jack Quaid from The Boys, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, Sonia Ben Ammar, and Kyle Gallner from The Boys will all appear in the film. Audiences are getting ready to get their first taste of what’s to come from Scream. It wrapped production about a year ago.
The first pictures for next year’s Scream reboot have been released by Paramount (via Entertainment Weekly) ahead of the release of the first teaser for the flick. The visuals feature the return of Sidney, Gale, and Dewey. Also, Judy Hicks, played by Marley Shelton, and the introduction of the franchise’s young newcomers.
Take a look at the Scream 2022 first pictures below
The first photographs of the Scream franchise’s iconic primary three don’t reveal much about the film’s still-unknown plot. It’s exciting for longtime fans of the genre to see them reunited for another chapter. Marley Shelton has already announced that she will reprise her role as Judy in the next picture. Also, it’s worth noting that EW’s description for the photo credits her as Sheriff Judy Hicks, although she was a deputy in her first film. Dewey seemed content in his role as Woodsboro Sheriff. But it’s possible he stepped down to care for his wife Gale after her injuries in the 2011 picture.
The new Scream characters’ photos are similarly vague about the plot. Except for Jack Quaid and Melissa Barrera’s personas, who also look to be a relationship in their image. The lone still of Ghostface also reveals a deliberate angle in the killer’s design to obscure any distinguishing body stature or size to narrow down the probable suspect pool, adding to the horror sequel’s true mystery. When Scream hits theaters on January 14, 2022, only time will tell who is really behind the mask.
