Met Gala 2022: All you need to know

The return of the Met Gala: All you need to know

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the Met Gala is one of the most spoken about as well as most awaited Hollywood nights. The Met Gala is all set to return on Monday. The theme for this year is “Gilded Glamour”. It will bring forth some fancy historical outfits that would be appropriate for HBO’s “The Gilded Age.”

The hosts for this year will be the fun couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, along with Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Vogue’s Anna Wintour will organize the show as usual. Over the years, the event has not just acted as a fundraiser but has also put out some fashion statements. Some of the outfits that stood out in the previous years were Rihanna as a bejeweled pope, Zendaya in a light-up Cinderella gown, and Kim Kardashian in a face-covering bodysuit.

Last year’s Met Gala raised more than $16.4 million

The gala kicks off the museum’s annual spring fashion show, which attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. The general public is not permitted to purchase tickets. You must have received an invitation to the event. Companies or fashion houses typically purchase tables, with each seat costing around $35,000, but some visitors are welcomed for free.

This year’s exhibition will feature some lesser-known designers as well as some well-known film directors. It will include people such as Sofia Coppola, Martin Scorsese, host King, and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao from last year. In the American Wing’s period rooms, their work will be on exhibit. Before the pandemic, approximately 500-600 guests were given the invitations. This year, similar to the September gala 400 people will be in attendance. Last year’s event raised more than $16.4 million.
