Meghan Markle has put her popular Spotify podcast Archetypes on hold following the death last week of Queen Elizabeth II. The Home Page of the Podcast notified its listeners, “New episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen.” Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral has been set for September 19.
Archetypes: Details of the Podcast
Archetypes is produced by Archewell Audio with Spotify’s Gimlet Media. The First podcast was aired in August nearly two years after Meghan and Harry signed an exclusive multiyear deal with the audio streaming giant to host and produce podcasts, estimated to be worth around 25 million US dollars (£18 million), in late 2020.
Markle’s podcast, which focuses on conversations between her and other powerful women, seemed to mark a new chapter for the duchess since her and Prince Harry’s step back from the royal family, as she told The Cut that it made her “feel different.”
Currently, No. 2 on Spotify Chart, Meghan’s podcast even took over The Joe Rogan Experience for a short amount of time to become No. 1 after debuting last month. Archetypes has so far featured some famous celebrities like American singer Mariah Carey and tennis player Serena Williams as guests. The podcast focuses on her talks with other strong women and labels that try to hold women back.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties in 2020
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties in 2020, and haven’t been close to the family since then. Their relationship strained when they sat down with Oprah Winfrey for an explosive interview in 2021 and made scathing remarks about Buckingham Palace and the treatment they faced. However, on Saturday, the couple made an unexpected appearance alongside Prince William, and his wife Kate for a walkabout close to Windsor Castle.
