Kim Kardashian is once again making heads turn with her Met Gala outfit. Kardashian was flaunting a gorgeous Marilyn Monroe golden gown. The iconic outfit was worn by Marilyn Monroe six decades ago when she serenaded the US president John F Kennedy for his birthday. Dressed up in the iconic gown with a sleek tight bun hairdo, Kim was accompanied by her boyfriend Pete Davidson. Pete was wearing a classic black suit with sunglasses as an accessory.
“And that’s Marilyn Monroe,” Kim told Vogue. “For me, the most Marilyn Monroe moment is when she sang Happy Birthday to JFK, it was that look.” Kim lost nearly 7kgs to fit into the gown. “I did want a physical change too,” she told Vogue. “It was such a challenge. It was like a role. I was determined to fit this. I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,” she said. Moreover, Marilyn Monroe’s dress is the most expensive dress to be sold at $4.8m at auction.
Met Gala 2022: Gilded Glamour
Certainly, back to the traditional first Monday of the May date, the theme for this year was “gilded glamour”. Apart from Kim Kardashian, other celebrities donning their lovely outfits at Met Gala were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in Versace. Alicia Key was wearing a Ralph Lauren dress with 200,000 crystals arranged certainly to look like the city’s skyline. Billie Eilish wore an eco-friendly Gucci gown that was bright green.
Although as obvious as it is, many celebrities appeared to be oblivious to the night’s theme. Gigi Hadid looked stunning in a red corseted jumpsuit and a huge fluffy coat. Gwen Stefani dazzled in a neon-yellow gown with a long skirt.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams wore a tuxedo jacket with subway symbols on the back. The words “End Gun Violence” were inscribed on it. During the luxurious Gilded Age of the late 1800s and early 1900s, he highlighted the economic problems that many individuals faced. Hillary Clinton, a former presidential contender, said she was coming for the first occasion in 20 years to honor the American spirit. Her burgundy gown had 60 names of prominent American women embroidered on it.
