South Korean singer Park Bo Ram died unexpectedly on Thursday, her agency said. The K-pop star was thirty years old.
Park was drinking at a friend’s house with two other people on Thursday night, according to a Korean police complaint reported by AllKPop. She allegedly went to the restroom shortly before 10 p.m. and was discovered slouched over the sink, unconscious, when her pals arrived. They quickly contacted the authorities and performed CPR on her.
Attempts to resuscitate Park were fruitless. She was transferred to Hanyang University Guri Hospital by emergency personnel and pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m.
“Park Bo Ram suddenly left us on the late evening of April 11. Our hearts are deeply troubled as we deliver this sudden news to her fans,” her agency, XANADU Entertainment, said in a statement on Friday.
No cause of death was specified. Multiple Korean media sites reported that authorities were still investigating.
Park Bo rose to prominence in 2010 as a reality TV participant in the Korean singing competition SuperStar K2, where she finished eighth.
She made her solo debut in 2014 with the track “Beautiful,” and has since enjoyed success with several solo hits and collaborations with Korean musicians such as Eric Nam and Park Kyung.
