Johnny Depp makes a surprise visit to London's Royal Albert Hall

The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard has come to an end. The former couple is awaiting the verdict on their trial. Meanwhile, Johnny Depp surprised everyone with an unscheduled visit to a concert in London’s Royal Albert Hall. Depp astounded the audience by performing a variety of musical covers with English guitarist Jeff Beck, including John Lennon’s “Isolation,” a record they worked on and was released in 2020.

A jury in Virginia evaluated the defamation allegations brought by both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The court was adjourned on Friday sans reaching a decision. After the Memorial Day break, the jury will continue the discussions on Tuesday. When the verdict is announced, it will have been 18 months since Depp’s libel action in the United Kingdom was lost. The actor lost a high-profile libel lawsuit in London in November 2020 against British tabloid The Sun for naming him a “wife-beater.”

Johnny Depp is back on stage

Johnny Depp took to the stage at Sheffield City Hall to perform his cover of Isolation alongside guitarist Jeff Beck just a few days after the final day of evidence in the Johnny Depp Amber Heard libel trial.

Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for misrepresentation of an op-ed she authored in December 2018 regarding domestic abuse allegations. He’s suing her for $50 million, saying that it harmed his professional chances. Meanwhile, Heard is suing Depp for defamation, saying that Depp’s lawyer Adam Waldman’s public statements citing her allegations as “fake” and an “abuse hoax” destroyed her image and brought a halt to her career. She’s asking for around $100 million in damages.

The trial lasted six weeks and saw a series of audio and video evidence from both sides to make their case stronger. Both sides produced several testimonies. There were, however, celebrity appearances. Depp’s ex-girlfriend Kate Moss debunked a long-running rumor that he once threw the British model down a flight of stairs. Another ex-girlfriend, actress Ellen Barkin, claimed that Johnny Depp was jealous, controlling, and drunk. Bodyguards, agents, company managers, psychologists, and other witnesses were also present.
