John Cena is ready to fight Dwayne Johnson in a DCEU movie

John Cena of the Suicide Squad claims he’s ready to battle Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. It will be in a DC Extended Universe film. On August 6th, writer/director James Gunn best known for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise; will bring a completely different collection of misfits to the DCEU with The Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad welcomes recruits to Task Force X. It includes Cena’s “douchey Captain America,” Peacemaker, in a sequel and thematic reboot to its 2016 counterpart.

The peacemaker doesn’t care how many “men, women, or children” he has to kill for the sake of peace, justice, and the American way, as seen by different advertising materials. Cena has been wearing his outfit everywhere. Gunn is directing a Peacemaker prequel/spinoff series, which will air on HBO Max in early 2022. Despite Gunn’s lack of knowledge of The Suicide Squad’s role within the DCEU, it appears like Warner Bros. is establishing Peacemaker as a part of the broader, though uneven DCEU.

In an interview with ComicBook, John Cena stated that a clash between his Peacemaker and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in the DCEU is unavoidable. While acknowledging that his character has no chance against Black Adam, Cena expressed interest in fighting his former coworker on-screen in the future. He says,

“You know me. Ready, willing, and able. And answering the phone whenever it rings. I’m good,” says Cena. “I think that the excitement is starting to build with fans, whether you talk about the conversation of Fast, or you talk about now the DC Universe. Don’t want to say we’re on a crash course and it’s inevitable. I want to because I’m a fan. But we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. Tell me what he says.”

Peacemaker and Black Adam

John Cena completed the Peacemaker, while Dwayne Johnson completed Black Adam earlier last month. In F9: The Fast and Furious Saga, Cena plays Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) long-lost brother. A franchise Johnson helped revitalize but has since abandoned. Long before Cena ever put a toilet seat on his head, Johnson was connected to the role of Teth-Adam/Black Adam. Black Adam is one of DC’s most powerful heroes. He was an Egyptian slave who is granted abilities by the ancient magician Shazam. Johnson’s character was going to make an appearance in Shazam! at first. He will, however, be there in the origin film. It is planned to be released in 2022.

The genesis story of the Peacemaker’s titular figure will also be up for exploration. Cena’s words, given Gunn’s earlier pronouncements about The Suicide Squad’s death toll, bode well for his character’s survival. Given the fact that Cena and Johnson’s careers look to be colliding, it’s easy to envision Peacemaker and Black Adam (briefly) clashing. While the former is peaceful, the latter has a history of tyranny. Both characters, on the other hand, kill at will. Whether or not his film is part of the SnyderVerse, Black Adam’s antics will lead to a confrontation with the Justice Society of America and, presumably, the start of a new chapter for the DCEU. Johnson has already shown interest in facing Henry Cavill’s Superman, who would be a far more ruthless, though less amusing adversary than Cena’s Peacemaker.
