Interesting facts about Oscars 2022

This year’s Oscars ceremony will take place on March 27. The Oscars 2022 will honor the best of cinema from 2021. There will be a few snubs and a few firsts at the ceremony, and some old rivalries will resurface. Before heading out to the Oscars, here are a few Interesting records that can be broken in the Oscars 2022

Records that can be broken in the Oscars 2022

1. Judi Dench to create history?

Dame Judi Dench has a chance to become the oldest Oscar winner ever. Her portrayal in Sir Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Belfast’ has earned her an Academy Award nomination. If she wins, she will surpass Sir Anthony Hopkins, who won in 2021 for ‘Father.’ Dench, who is 87 years old, is four years older than Hopkins.

2. ‘West Side Story’ may create history

‘West Side Story,’ directed by Steven Spielberg, has a chance to become the first remake of a previous best picture winner to win the award this year. This category has never received a nomination for a remake of the best picture winner. Only one remake has ever won best picture: Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Departed,’ a remake of the un-nominated Hong Kong criminal thriller ‘Infernal Affairs.’ If ‘West Side Story’ wins Best Picture on Sunday, it will be the first time in nearly two decades that a musical has won the award. (Tramadol) The last time this occurred was in 2003 when ‘Chicago’ received the Academy Award for Best Picture.

5. First OTT film to win Oscars?

5. First OTT film to win Oscars?

Netflix has received Oscar nominations for films such as ‘Roma,’ ‘Mank,’ and ‘The Irishman,’ but the streaming service is yet to win an award. But, if forecasts are to be believed, Netflix’s ‘The Power Of The Dog’ may possibly break the streaming platform’s jinx and win the Best Picture Oscar this year.

Campion v/s Spielberg round 2

Jane Campion is the first woman to receive two nominations in the category of best director. She was nominated for ‘The Piano’ in 1994 and is up for the winner’s trophy this year for ‘The Power Of The Dog.’ Steven Spielberg won the award for ‘Schindler’s List’ in 1994, but she had lost out to him. However, this year too, Spielberg is nominated for ‘West Side Story’ with her. Will Campion be able to defeat Speilberg this time?
