How I Met Your Father producers said there will be references to the show that inspired it, How I Met Your Mother. Issac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger of This Is Us, which is in its last season on NBC, devised the new series. It is depicted as a standalone sequel. Hilary Duff, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Josh Peck, and Kim Cattrall will all appear in the new series.
How I Met Your Father will follow Duff’s Sophie as she navigates dating and relationships with her friends in 2021. The older Sophie (Cattrall) narrates the tale. The series will emphasize the transition from childhood to adulthood. It will also navigate concepts such as maturity, self-actualization, relationships, and friendship. How I Met Your Father will premiere on Hulu on January 18 with a ten-episode first season order.
In a virtual TCA panel, according to Deadline, Aptaker discussed how the show is not a reboot of the original. But it would feature gags and references that will appeal to both newbie and longtime fans. Duff teases that the show has “lots of little rewards for people who loved the original if they stick with us”. While Berger states, there are throwbacks to the initial series “peppered throughout” season 1 of the new show.
How I Met Your Father

Saying, “From the first day on stage with masks on, we started rehearsing and instantly knew we had something”. The new series refers to How I Met Your Mother onscreen (and fans continue to guess how the two programs will be linked). How I Met Your Father already has several behind-the-scenes connections to the original show. Fryman directed many HIMYM episodes and the pilot for How I Met Your Father, in addition to sharing many of the same producers. How I Met Your Dad was a CBS pilot. Its original intention was to be a spin-off. But 20th Television shelved it indefinitely in 2014. The premise of How I Met Your Dad would have been identical. Greta Gerwig and Meg Ryan were the cast in that version of the show.
How I Met Your Mother was a hit during its nine-season run. Fans remember it for its innovative structure and humor, with varied reviews as the series progressed. How I Met Your Father can work in the wonderful parts of the previous show while fixing its errors, thanks to an eight-year hiatus and a shortened season order.
