The famous K-pop band BTS members have decided to take a break and focus on their solo projects. The South Korean band made the shocking disclosure during their anniversary feast on Tuesday. Band member RM said he had been feeling a need to explore his own work without the constant recording and performing required of BTS.
“The problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature. You have to keep producing music and keep doing something,” said RM. The band’s Twitter page posted the dinner video with the statement regarding the break. It said, “To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various formats.”
Here’s what the BTS members will do in the break:
- J-hope: BTS’ solo ventures are being led by J-Hope. On July 31, 2022, the singer will make his debut solo appearance as a member of BTS at the Lollapalooza music festival. He’ll be the first South Korean musician to perform on the main stage of a major American music festival.
- Suga: During BTS’ downtime, Suga will keep himself engaged with dancing, singing, English, Japanese, guitar, keyboard, harmonics, and pilates classes.
- V: The artist admitted that he’s having trouble finishing the album since he’s preoccupied with getting the right flow. V claims that he listens to the entire album “one after the other” and eliminates songs that don’t match the overall tone.
- Jinmin: The vocalist discussed the disparities between writing music for himself and writing songs for a band. “It’s different when you’re writing your own music. After all, I want my music to tell a message to our fans,” he said.
- RM: With the launch of his mixtape RM in 2015 and Mono in 2018, RM has established a noteworthy solo career. The artist did not say when new music would be released. Nonetheless, he did say that he would begin on a personal growth trip. “For BTS to last long, I think I have to retain who I am,” he said. “Because I’m not, BTS, I’m just a part of BTS.”
- Jin: Jin revealed that he is working on a solo project. However, has no idea when it would be launched. “I received the songs and I’m preparing them,” he said. “The other members all have their release date planned out so I think mine will be the last to be released.”
- Jungkook: Jungkook is taking advantage of his sabbatical to collaborate with other performers while still producing solo music. The singer is gearing up for a guest appearance on Charlie Puth’s single “Left, Right.” During a conversation at the iHeart Radio Wango Tango concert, Charlie unwittingly announced their collaboration.
