Matthew Perry did not have a dog before his sudden death on Saturday. Despite reports that the late actor’s dog would be adopted by Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow, a source close to the late actor told BreezyScroll that he did not own a dog at the time of his death.
Perry was previously a dog dad to Alfred, a doodle mix he shared with ex Molly Hurwitz. The couple started dating in 2018 and got engaged in November 2020 before splitting up in June 2021.
Alfred has been a regular on Hurwitz’s Instagram since their split. In a September post, she revealed her close relationship with the dog, along with a series of photos.
“Alfred is three. He is very annoying a lot of the time, but he is truly the most loving potato. He entered my life during some dark depression, and he helped get me far away from that. He is also cute as all fuck. Cheers to you, Alfredo 💕 #adoptdontshop” she wrote.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew- Friends cast
Hurwitz reflected on their time together in a lengthy Instagram tribute on Monday, saying that no one has had “a more profound impact” on her adult life than Perry.
Kudrow, 60, and her Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer issued a joint statement following Perry’s death.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” their statement read. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
“In time, we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement continues. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
