After 19 years of successfully running her talk show, Ellen DeGeneres is all set to bid it goodbye. The show’s final episode was filmed on April 28. It will premiere on May 26. Jennifer Anniston and Pink, the first guests on the show, will also be part of the finale. Page Six reported Ellen DeGeneres ‘has been crying a lot’ and was very emotional.
“The whole few weeks leading up to the finale were very emotional,” the source claimed.
“Ellen – 100 percent – did it on her terms. She went out the way she wanted to. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house on the last day,” the source added. “She wanted to go out quietly.” “It was friends and family of the cast and crew in the audience,” the source added.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show has over 60 Emmy Awards
Jennifer Anniston, who played Rachel in Friends, cried as she hugged DeGeneres. Portia de Rossi, Ellen DeGeneres’ wife, was also said to be on location for the last two weeks. She made sure she was there to encourage Ellen. While the comedian was heartbroken to leave her program, she opted for a quiet departure rather than going out with a fuss.
Ellen revealed in May of last year that her daytime talk program will be ending in 2022. The Ellen DeGeneres Show first aired in 2003 and has now earned over 60 Emmy Awards. Billie Eilish, Michelle Obama, Justin Timberlake, and Zac Efron are among the guests who will appear in the show’s final week. After reports of toxic set behavior arose in 2020, the show’s image suffered a knock. In a letter to staff acquired by US Weekly in July 2020, the host stated that she had always wanted the show to be a “place of happiness,” and she regretted the change. The claims were “very hurtful” to the Emmy winner, but she asserted that wasn’t the reason she decided to cancel the show.
