Ellen DeGeneres says goodbye to her talk show after 19 seasons

Ellen DeGeneres tapes her last show and bids a teary-eyed goodbye

Ellen DeGeneres shot the final episode of her The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She got very emotional after finishing the shoot and while bidding goodbye to her viewers and guests.

The teary-eyed 64-year-old stepped towards the audience, along with her wife Portia de Rossi and brother Vance DeGeneres.

Many renowned celebrities will be joining Ellen for the last episode of season 19. Billie Eilish, Jennifer Aniston, and Pink are among the few famous names.

Ellen said that even though it was her choice to bring the show to an end she was crying every day for the past couple of months. But the host is determined to close this chapter and start something new

In the show, she mentioned how she chose to come out on her show 25 years back. Ellen even expressed how emotional a moment it was for her. She also added that she helped a lot of people in their lives through the show.

She said, “It’s so emotional to me because you know, you forget that doing something that, to me, was kind of selfish. Everyone around me that was making money off of me thought it was the wrong decision because they were still making money on me and they said not to do it. You forget that you do something, it impacts so many other people.”

What’s next?

DeGeneres says she feels like she’s simply at the beginning of another summer break. According to the Sun Newspaper, the comedian plans to take “a pause” after ending her 19 season-long show. She will take a long vacation to Rwanda with her wife Portia de Rossi.

After the finale show’s airing, Ellen and her wife and brother will be flying to Rwanda for the opening of her gorilla campus. The comedian is passionate about the gorilla conservation project. Ellen has opened an educational campus to save the wild mountain gorillas.

She started The Ellen Fund whose mission is “to secure a future for wild mountain gorillas.”

Ellen DeGeneres also subtly talked about some opportunities and a couple of offers but nothing serious is in the scene as of now.

Regrets?

Ellen said that whatever happens, happens for a reason and there were a few things that came as a shock as well as surprise. But it was eye-opening and had to happen.
