Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez has been elevated to partner at Brown Rudnick, the firm she works with, following the role she played as a member of the actor’s legal team during the defamation trial against Amber Heard.
Rudnick’s chairman and CEO William Baldiga announced the news of Camille’s promotion a week after the verdict came out.
William said, “We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership. Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”
Newest partner at Brown Rudnick
Camille Vasquez was certainly happy with her new position at the firm. “I am delighted that Brown Rudnick has given me its full vote of confidence by having me join the partnership. I’m proud of the uniquely talented team I’ve had the privilege to lead, which exemplified teamwork and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to represent Brown Rudnick’s culture of excellence,” she said.
Vasquez, Depp’s 37-year-old lawyer, however, became a big favorite among Depp’s admirers. Irrespective of the results of the trial, she has received praises for her effective cross-examination of Heard. Moreover, Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s attorney, was visibly agitated by her persistent objections to her line of questioning.
Camille Vasquez was an attorney at Brown Rudnick before the promotion. Rudnick is the law firm that represented Depp in his defamation lawsuit against Heard. Furthermore, Camille specializes in plaintiff-side defamation disputes and specializes in litigation and arbitration.
In March 2019, Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife for $50 million for an op-ed. Heard wrote an article for the Washington Post in late 2018 on becoming “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”
