In a saddening mishap, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died after actor Alec Baldwin discharged a pretend gun on the film’s sets. Hutchins died as a result of the terrible tragedy, which severely injured director Joel Souza. Santa Fe County district attorney says criminal charges against Alec Baldwin are not ruled out.
“All options are on the table.” No one has been ruled out at this point.”Baldwin was rehearsing a scenario for the film “Rust” in which he draws a Pietta Long Colt.45 from a holster and fires at the camera when the gun is discharged. Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer, was shot in the torso. She passed away in the hospital.
“We suspect there are other live weapons on set,” Sheriff Mendoza informed. “We’re going to determine how they got there. Why they were there? because they shouldn’t have been there. I think there was some complacency on this set,” he adds.
Mendoza stated that Baldwin was “cooperative,” and that armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed and assistant director Dave Halls were also interviewed. Halls handed Baldwin the weapon that killed Hutchins. He refers to it as a “cold gun,” which is industry jargon for an inactive firearm. Gutierrez Reed, 24, would have been responsible for procuring and keeping guns safe on set, ensuring that they are accounted for at all times and locked up when not in use as the armourer on movie production. The Wrap, an entertainment trade website, revealed last week that crew members were using the firearms just hours before Hutchins was killed.
