As the 56th annual Country Music Association Awards handed out some awards, it was a fun-filled evening for music fans. Luke Combs, who won performer of the year at the CMAs for a second consecutive year, took home the most glitzy prize of the evening.
In a statement, Luke Combs said, “I want to thank country music for making my dreams come true. This is my fifth or sixth year at this awards show, and the country sounded a lot more country than it has in a long time.”
Lainey Wilson, who won female artist of the year as well as the best new artist, and Cody Johnson, who won single of the year and video of the year for the song “Til You Can’t,” were two other significant winners. Lainey had six nominations at the ceremony, including the best new artist.
