The winners of the 2022 EE British Academy Film Awards, usually known as the BAFTA awards, were announced on March 13. The ceremony was at London’s Royal Albert Hall, which was hosted by Rebel Wilson of Pitch Perfect fame. Dune, the sci-fi epic, had the most nominations (eleven) going into the show. The Power of the Dog came in second with eight, followed by Belfast with six. Then, Licorice Pizza and West Side Story both follow with five each.
Jane Campion was named Director, however, she was unable to attend the awards event. Benedict Cumberbatch, a member of the cast, accepted the award on her behalf. Belfast won the prize for Best British Film, while Will Smith won the leading actor for King Richard, who was also unable to attend the ceremony.
