V, a member of the K-pop group BTS, debuts on the Billboard charts this week with the publication of his debut solo collection, Layover. This time around, his name is all over the Digital Song Sales chart, which measures the best-selling songs in the United States on a weekly basis.
V currently has five songs on the Digital Song Sales chart, accounting for 10% of all available spots. This feat is often saved for a small number of notable individuals, and it’s important to note that not all chart-topping songs translate into high individual single sales. Olivia Rodrigo, who presently has the No. 1 song and album in the United States, exemplifies this point by not appearing on the Digital Song Sales chart.
V came agonizingly close to securing another No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart in his latest foray into chart dominance, missing the top spot by only one slot. According to Luminate data, his latest single, “Slow Dancing,” debuted at No. 2 on the chart, with little under 10,200 copies sold. During the same chart period, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s latest collaboration, “Bongos,” reached No. 1.
V’s Layover continues his remarkable run on the Digital Song Sales chart, with a pair of debuts. “Blue” is the album’s second-best seller, debuting at No. 12 with approximately 3,700 copies sold. “For Us” debuts somewhat lower on the chart, with roughly 2,500 copies sold in the first week.
Furthermore, V’s previous singles from Layover, which were released weeks ago but only hours apart, have returned to the Digital Song Sales chart as fans anxiously support his solo work. “Love Me Again” climbs to No. 35, with “Rainy Days” close behind at No. 36. These songs, which first charted in the top five, continue to be popular with listeners, selling 1,944 and 1,856 copies, respectively.
