The American magazine issued its brand-new list of what it calls “the best songs ever” on September 15, after 17 years, encompassing decades of music and many genres. BTS’ smash-hit pop-disco single ‘Dynamite’ made it to number 346 on the list. The list is a recreation of its previous ‘500 Greatest Songs Of All Time’.
The American magazine praised the song stating that it is “a landmark, hegemony-shattering moment for the world-conquering South Korean group. Their intertwined vocal talent, led by youthful standout Jungkook, put over the track”. It is the only Korean artist’s song to make the list.
Over 250 artists, musicians, and producers were polled, as well as “figures from the music industry and leading critics and journalists,” according to the American publication. The magazine ‘tabulated the results’ after each person polled submitted a ranked list of their top 50 tunes.
‘Dynamite,’ BTS’ debut English single, released in August of last year, was right in the middle of the pandemic. ‘Dynamite’ is also BTS’ first ever number one song on the Billboard Hot 100. It has also broken a new YouTube record. On August 6, around 2:50 IST, the official music video for Dynamite achieved 1.2 billion views. It was released on August 21, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. IST, and it has been 11 months and 16 days since then. (gunnewsdaily.com)
