The casting director for the popular Netflix series Bridgerton has been left bewildered by a surge of explicit audition tapes. Kelly Valentine Hendry revealed on the podcast “Should I Delete That?” that her inbox has been flooded with sexual videos from hopeful actors, many of which are essentially sex tapes.
Surprising audition submissions for Bridgerton
With the conclusion of season 3, Bridgerton is currently casting for its fourth season. However, Hendry is puzzled by the nature of the videos she’s receiving. “It’s every day … I get the most unbelievable videos, unsolicited. It’s sex basically. It’s not actual sex but it’s quite punchy. It’s not nude pictures, but not far off,” she shared on the podcast.
Despite Bridgerton’s romantic and sometimes steamy scenes, Hendry emphasized that the show isn’t graphic to the extent of these submissions. “I don’t know why they are sending me sex videos because the show isn’t very big on it, at least not very graphically,” she said.
Influx of tapes for a coveted role
Currently, Hendry’s inbox is reportedly “90 percent” full of emails from fans eager to join the Bridgerton cast. Many of these tapes are for the role of Sophie Beckett, the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson.
Season 3 highlights and what’s next
The plot for season 4 remains under wraps, with the show’s creators yet to confirm which love story will take center stage. Season 3 focused on the romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Coughlan made headlines for her bold decision to appear nude on screen to challenge body-shamers.
“I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included. There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest ‘f**k you’ to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering. I felt beautiful in the moment, and I thought: ‘When I’m 80, I want to look back on this and remember how fuc…g hot I looked!’” Coughlan said in an interview.
Fans can catch up on the first three seasons of Bridgerton, which are currently streaming on Netflix.
