This year saw a multitude of power-packed movies—the James Bond movie and Two Marvel movies (so far). However, none of them is the world’s fourth-biggest hit this year. A Chinese film called Battle at Lake Changjin takes the cake.
Battle at Lake Changjin made over $600 million on the box office
‘Battle at Lake Changjin’ is currently the world’s fourth most successful movie for 2021. The Chinese movie sustains its fortress in the Chinese box office as it makes new records. Since the end of September, the movie has made a total of $600 million at the box office. The box office stats for this Chinese movie puts it leagues ahead of ‘The Legend of Shang-Chi’, the new Marvel Movie. After all, the Marvel movie made $402 million, over $200 million less than the Battle of Changjin.
‘Changjin’ is a movie about Chinese heroics during the early periods of the Korean War. The epic movie is co-directed by Chen Kaige, Dante lam, and hark Tsui, all A-list filmmakers of the country. Moreover, it is believed to be the most expensive movie ever made by China, with its budget totaling over $200 million. The movie co-stars Wu Jing, the action hero, and Jackson Yee, a 20-year old rising star.
Here are other name makers on the Box Office
So far, other movies from 2021 to outscore ‘Changjin’ in its global rankings include ‘Detective Chinatown 3’, ‘F9’, and ‘Hi, Mom’. Detective Chinatown 3 made $686 million and F9 topped with $717 million. However, ‘Hi, Mom’ takes the cherry on top with a shocking $822 million in global sales.
Over the weekend, ‘My County, My Parents’ made a total of $19.6 million, bringing its cumulative t $182 million. However, the US gave the new James Bond a dull response as ‘No Time To Die’ makes a meager $56 million. Additionally, ‘Godzilla Vs Kong’ the new installment in the Godzilla universe made $468 million globally.
