India’s first COVID-19 patient tests positive for coronavirus again. The patient was a medical student from Kerala’s Thrissur. She tested positive in January 2020 and was doing her medical degree from Wuhan University, China.

“The student tested positive in an RT-PCR test conducted prior to a journey. She does not have any symptoms this time around. So, she is in home isolation. The last time she had symptoms,” said KJ Reena, the District Medical Officer (DMO) of Thrissur.

Previously, she tested positive for coronavirus on January 30, 2020, merely days after she returned home for the semester break. However, the girl tested negative after three weeks of treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital. She also had a complete recovery and went back home on February 20, 2020. The girl was on her way to New Delhi for study purposes and, got her RT-PCR test done.

COVID-19 cases on the rise

The number of positive cases is on the rise again. Kerala reported a total of 7,798 COVID-19 cases on Monday. Additionally, on the same day, Thrissur reported a total of 1,092 covid positive cases. It is the highest number in the state of Kerala. It was followed by 780 positive cases in Kozhikode and 774 positive cases in Kollar. Moreover, Mallapuram and Thiruvananthapuram followed with 722 and 676 cases respectively.
