Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer tested positive for the virus. Germany barred unvaccinated residents from visiting bars and restaurants.

Britain faces the Omicron wave. Britain said on Friday that they will deploy troops and military medics to assist National Health Service (NHS) staff.

Since the pandemic began last year, Britain has been one of the worst-affected countries. It has over 150, 200 deaths and 14 million COVID-19 cases.

According to reports, at least 2 million coronavirus cases had recorded every day around the world as the virus continues to spread.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), has warned that the Omicron strain is causing a “tsunami of cases.”

South African authorities originally discovered it in the latter week of November last year. Since then, the Omicron variant has spread fast around the world.

President Biden said he does not believe “COVID is here to stay” as the US continues to fight the virus. Even as US Supreme Court judges heard the president’s new vaccine mandate.

With almost 59 million COVID-19 cases and 836,470 deaths, the United States is the worst-affected country. According to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus tracker, nearly 8 million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the United States in the last 28 days.
