China’s Xi’an city reported 52 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. Soon after the Xi’an outbreak, authorities ordered a strict lockdown, asking millions to stay at home. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
All about Xi’an outbreak
Xi’an city, located in China’s northern region reported a slew of cases making the total 143. Lei Zhenglong, China’s National Health Commission (NHC) official warned the nation to not “let its guard down”. After all, the nation is now detecting new omicron cases. The officials are now implementing new lockdown rules. According to the rules, only one member of a household will be allowed to go for buying essentials. They have also added restrictions on residents leaving the city.
The new lockdown rule comes as China is battling the Delta variant and the Xi’an outbreak. Millions across China are under lockdown with new cases flaring up. Earlier, the authorities moved quickly to shut several areas in the Zhejiang province. Thousands began quarantining after the report of a covid-19 outbreak came out. The province was the hub to 200 covid cases. While the lockdown is crippling businesses, reports claim that a minimum of 70,000 isolates.
COVID-19 situation across China
However, the situation is just in the province of Zhejiang and Xi’an. Lockdown measures are similar in Ningbo and Shaoxing. Businesses are shutting down and people are being instructed to stay indoors. On December 31, 2019, China was the first to report the virus to the World Health Organisation (WHO). However, since then, China has only reported 4,636 fatalities officially.
Additionally, China has also reported one death this year despite severe measures as the Xi regime is following a zero-covid strategy. The nation wants to ensure high safety before the Beijing Winter Olympics. The winter games are set to start from February 2022 and Xi’an outbreak may make things more strict.
