William Schwartzman Receives YoungArts Award

William Schwartzman of Santa Monica, California from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), has received a 2023 YoungArts award. William Schwartzman has been recognized for the caliber of his artistic achievement and joins 702 of the most accomplished young visual, literary, and performing artists from throughout the county.

Selected through the organization’s prestigious competition, YoungArts award winners, all 15–18 years old or in grades 10–12, are chosen for the caliber of their artistic achievement by esteemed discipline-specific panels of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process.

YoungArts award winners join a distinguished community of artists and are offered creative and professional development support throughout their careers. A complete list of the 2023 winners is available online at youngarts.org/winners.

For the duration of his career, William Schwartzman is eligible for exclusive creative and professional development support, including a wide range of fellowships, residencies, and awards; microgrants and financial awards; virtual and in-person presentation opportunities in collaboration with major venues and cultural partners nationwide; and access to YoungArts Post, a free, private online platform for YoungArts artists to connect, collaborate and discover new opportunities.

As a YoungArts award winner, William Schwartzman joins a distinguished group of accomplished artists, including Timothée Chalamet, Viola Davis, and Desmond Richardson, among others.

About William Schwartzman

William Schwartzman is an American pianist, composer, arranger, and bachelor of music candidate at The Juilliard School. He tours with the NYO Jazz this summer as pianist and the direction of trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Sean Jones featuring three-time Grammy award-winning singer Dee Dee Bridgewater. A winner of the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Award, William Schwartzman has also performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival, the Vail Jazz Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival under the direction of Gerald Clayton.
