Users against Musk as head of Twitter?

Over 9.86 million users of the social media platform voted for Elon Musk to step down as the head of Twitter. On Sunday, Musk tweeted out a poll asking “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll”. The results on Monday revealed a majority of users voted in favor. However, only 42.5 percent were against the proposal.

Musk got ownership of the social media platform following his $44 billion takeover deal after several controversies. While he initially refused to take up the deal due to several fake users of the platform, he later agreed. Additionally, he also promised to focus on “freedom of speech”. If the CEO ends up sticking to his word, he will be stepping down from the position. However, since he is the majority owner, no one will be able to force him out of the role.

Who will be the next CEO?

Following his initial pool, Musk also shared about the lack of a successor willing to lead the platform as the new head of Twitter. “No one wants the job who can keep Twitter alive. (https://www.banucciteam.com/) There is no successor,” he tweeted. “You must like pain a lot. One catch: you have to invest your life savings in Twitter and it has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy since May. Still want the job?” tweeted Musk in reply to a user.

Elon Musk has been the CEO of the social media platform for about two months so far. However, in this short period, the company has undergone several changes and received a lot of fire. He also decided on suspending the accounts of journalists after blaming them for reviling his family’s location. While their accounts were later reinstalled, the move received severe criticism. Several major publications and institutions including the United Nations expressed their concerns.
