A $20 monthly fee is what Elon Musk apparently intends to charge for the Twitter Blue Badge subscription, which also includes user verification.
The Verge reports that Musk informed the team on Sunday that failure to implement the functionality by November 7 would result in termination.
Verified users would have 90 days to subscribe under the existing arrangement
According to those familiar with the situation and internal correspondence, the firm has been attempting to transform the optional $4.99 per month membership plan that unlocks the extra features into a more expensive $19.99 plan.
Verified users would have 90 days to subscribe under the existing arrangement in order to keep their blue checkmark. In the months before the acquisition, “The Chief Twit” had long complained about the Twitter verification procedure and vowed to reform the entire process.
Musk announced his plans for the authentication process on Twitter on Sunday, writing, “The whole verification procedure is being overhauled right now.”
Elon Musk is now focused on increasing subscriptions to account
About a year ago, the Twitter Blue subscription plan was launched, allowing users to access some publishers’ content without ads and make additional app customizations, such as choosing a new color for the app’s home screen icon.
However, according to its stated results, Twitter’s revenue in a few quarters continued to come almost entirely from adverts. The 51-year-old billionaire is now focused on increasing subscriptions to account for half of the business’s total income.
Even though Musk has only been in charge of Twitter for three days, he has already made a few modifications. Instead of the old homepage, which would prompt users to sign up for an account in order to access tweets, users visiting Twitter.com would now be taken to the Explore page, which displays trending tweets and news stories.
