The salaries of Google employees have been revealed in leaked Google Pay data, showcasing the tech giant’s reputation for offering some of the highest remunerations in the industry for roles spanning engineering, sales, and more.
Insider-acquired access to an internal business spreadsheet shared by Google employees. The sheet provides compensation information for approximately 12,000 US-based employees in 2022, covering a variety of roles such as software engineers and business analysts.
It also includes information on equity and bonuses, which can greatly increase an employee’s overall pay. Google’s highest-paying jobs in 2022 included software engineers and legal corporation counsel. The median total income at Google in 2022 was $279,802, but which roles paid the most?
The spreadsheet provides our best glimpse yet at how much the internet giant pays its employees, with some caveats: the data is restricted for US-based employment and includes information that individuals voluntarily supplied.
The majority of software engineers on the sheet reported earning between $100,000 and $375,000
Employees who had been with the organization longer and worked at a higher level tended to get paid more. The highest-paid software engineer in the data, for example, was a level 7 employee who earned $718,000 in base salary. The majority of software engineers on the sheet reported earning between $100,000 and $375,000. In 2022, the median total salary for Google employees was $279,802, as per the leaked internal data reviewed by Business Insider.
“We provide top-of-market compensation to our workforce, across salary, equity, leave, and a suite of benefits,” Tamani Jayasinghe, a Google spokesperson, said in a statement.
