Following last week’s dramatic events at OpenAI, which included the appointment of a new interim CEO and the threat of a staff resignation, Sam Altman is returning to the company he co-founded in 2015. Altman confirmed his return to OpenAI as CEO in a recent post on X (previously Twitter).
“I love OpenAi, and everything I’ve done over the past few days has been in service of keeping this team and its mission together,” he said.
He also spoke about his Microsoft hiring. “When I decided to join msft (Microsoft) on sun (Sunday) evening, it was clear that was the best path for me and the team.” He also made it clear that OpenAI will have a new board. “With the new board and w Satya’s support, I’m looking forward to returning to OpenAi, and building on our strong partnership with msft (Microsoft).”
