After buying Twitter, now, Elon Musk wishes to buy Coca-Cola next. He tweeted on Thursday, “Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in.” Well, it’s true. Coca-Cola in the initial days contained a small amount of cocaine, which was gradually lowered and eventually eradicated.
Just like any other tweet, this one from Musk also took social media by storm. This message drew a lot of attention, and Twitter users couldn’t stop talking about it. One user even posted a photo of a Coca-Cola bottle from 1894, which contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. So far, the tweet has received over 2.3 million likes and counting. This certainly isn’t the first time the Tesla owner has mentioned purchasing a company. He’s been in a buying frenzy.
The first sold bottle of Coca-Cola had 3.5g of cocaine
Coca-Cola contained cocaine as the main ingredient when it was first introduced. Cocaine was extracted from the coca leaf. While caffeine was derived from the cola nut. This resulted in the Coca-Cola brand name. Back in the 1890s, cocaine was used as a medicine in the United States. Coca-Cola once included a stunning 9mg of cocaine per glass. However, after stigmatizing the psychoactive substance this was drastically lowered over time before being fully phased out when Prohibition hit the United States.
Musk also tweeted about buying McDonald’s to mend the broken ice cream machines. “Now I’m going to buy McDonald’s and fix all the ice cream machines,” read a screenshot of a Musk tweet to which he responded with “Listen I can’t do miracles ok” in a sly dig at the fast-food giant. It is not an old tweet, just a doctored screenshot meant as a joke. The contract to buy Twitter for $44 billion has been signed by the world’s richest man, and it should be completed by the end of the year. Many have criticized Musk for purchasing the social media platform, which he intends to overhaul in many ways, including content filtering.
