Gautam Adani becomes the first Asian to be the world’s third richest man

The Indian billionaire, Gautam Adani, becomes the first Asian to be the world’s third richest man. Read to know more.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the 60-year-old businessman has surpassed French tycoon Bernard Arnault to become the third richest person in the world. He is currently behind US leaders Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. A total of $137.4 billion has been accumulated by Adani’s riches, of which $60.9 billion was added just this year.

This is the first time an Asian has reached the Bloomberg Billionaires Index‘s top three rankings. Both China’s Jack Ma and Mukesh Ambani, who has $91.9 billion in wealth, failed to do so. Adani’s success can be attributed to a number of elements, such as his quick diversification and business growth, as well as the sharp increase in the value of the company’s stock.

Just this February, Adani surpassed Mukesh Ambani as the richest Asian. He passed Bill Gates to become the fourth richest person in the world in July after becoming a centibillionaire (those with a net worth of $100 billion or more) in April. Adani’s net worth surpassed the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation by $230 million last month, rising to $113 billion.

After Tata Group and Reliance Industries, the Adani Group is India’s third-largest conglomerate. The group is active in a variety of sectors, including ports, power, green energy, gas, and airports. After making a bid for the 5G spectrum, the Adani Group now intends to enter the telecom industry.

The Group has also pledged to invest $70 billion in order to become the world’s largest renewable energy producer. This ascent has been quickened by the rising prices of coal.

It goes on to say that acts of philanthropy by other billionaires have also made it possible for Adani to reach this position. As part of his philanthropic initiatives, Gates announced last month that he will donate $20 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Warren Buffett, a titan of the stock market, has also given more than $35 billion to charity. According to the Bloomberg wealth rankings, they now are in the fifth and the 164th positions.
