Elon Musk apologizes to sacked Twitter worker over online row

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has apologized over an exchange he had on the platform with an employee.

It happened after employee Halli Thorleifsson tweeted to Elon Musk, “Your head of HR is not able to confirm if I am employed or not”.

In response, Mr. Musk enquired, “What work have you been doing?”

Following a series of follow-up inquiries and responses, Mr. Thorleifsson claimed to have received an email confirming his termination.

“I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of his situation”: Elon Musk

Mr. Musk followed that Twitter chats with a tweet on Tuesday condemning Mr. Thorleifsson as “the worst” before deleting it.

“I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of his situation. It was based on things I was told that were untrue or, in some cases, true, but not meaningful. (Tramadol) ”

“He is considering remaining at Twitter,” he added.

Mr. Thorleifsson claimed on Monday that he was unable to receive a response from Twitter’s human resources division regarding whether or not he had been fired.

“My theory is they made a mistake and are now looking for anything they can find to make this a “for cause” firing to avoid having to fulfill their contractual obligations,” he said.
