Elon Musk demands that Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, be fired. Know why

Elon Musk has demanded that Disney CEO Bob Iger be fired in response to Disney’s decision to ban advertisements from his struggling social media platform, X, according to CNN. On Thursday, Mr Musk, the owner of X and a millionaire conspiracy believer, took to social media, where he routinely expressed his displeasure with Iger’s conduct. He is known for using his powerful platform to address detractors, claimed that Iger should be sacked immediately, saying, “He should be fired immediately.” Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave because of what Bob has done to his firm.”

Disney representatives have yet to reply to Mr Musk’s call for Iger to be fired. According to CNN, Iger is largely credited with directing Disney to entertainment domination through strategic acquisitions such as Star Wars, Marvel Studios, and Pixar. Last month, Disney, along with numerous other large corporations, ceased advertising on X after Mr Musk promoted an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory popular among White supremacists. He issued a tacit apology for the post last week, but he also sent a profanity-laced warning to businesses who choose not to advertise on his social media site.

Elon Musk has contributed to the toxicity of X by spreading the bogus and dangerous Pizzagate conspiracy theory

Mr Musk focused his ire at Iger at the New York Times DealBook Summit, criticizing the Disney CEO for the decision to discontinue advertising on X, citing Musk as the reason. Iger noted that Disney’s involvement with Elon Musk and X was not seen positively. “We just felt that the association with… Elon Musk and X was not necessarily a positive one for us,” Iger said, according to CNN. The decision to discontinue marketing is consistent with a larger trend on X since Mr Musk took control in late 2022. His actions have aided in the spread of hate speech, misinformation, and conspiracy theories on the site.

According to the CNN article, he has contributed to the toxicity of X by spreading the bogus and dangerous Pizzagate conspiracy theory. The lack of big advertising partners has had a significant impact on X’s finances, as the platform is primarily reliant on advertising revenue. Mr Musk revealed at the DealBook Summit that his company’s downfall is likely due to the continued advertising boycott. “What this advertising boycott is going to do, it’s going to kill the company,” Elon Musk stated flatly. Despite X’s financial difficulties, Mr Musk has not taken personal responsibility for the matter, instead blaming advertisers and implying they are to blame for X’s impending demise, according to CNN.
