Donald Trump has made news after being detained for allegedly trying to change the outcome of Georgia’s 2020 election. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ordered a new trial date for him after he surrendered to the Fulton County jail on various charges on August 24, 2023. The trial is scheduled to start on March 4, 2024, one day before Super Tuesday. Super Tuesday is a day when multiple states hold elections and caucuses.

According to NBC News, Trump’s legal team attempted to move the trial date to April 2026, claiming that doing so would assure a “speedy trial.” Chutkan, on the other hand, rejected the proposal, claiming that it was “far beyond what is necessary.”

Chutkan also stated that Trump must be present during the trial.

The trial date for Donald Trump has gone viral on many social media channels. It became popular once it was revealed that his trial would commence before Super Tuesday.

According to the Guardian, on Super Tuesday, people from several states in the United States vote to nominate presidential candidates to run for the White House in the general election. Candidates must amass a majority of pledged delegates, who will vote to nominate them at the party’s convention.

NEW: U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has set the trial date for Donald Trump's election interference case for March 4, 2024.

Ironically, Chutkan is interfering in the 2024 election by selecting this date which lands just one day before Super Tuesday.

To be picked as a nominee, the contender must obtain 1,991 pledged delegates out of a total of 4,750. Each state is allotted a certain number of delegates based on its population and Democratic Party weight.

While Tanya Chutkan has set the date for Trump’s trial, a lady called Abigail Jo Shry threatened her earlier this month. Abigail used the N-word in a voice message to Chutkan. According to a Federal Protective Service arrest affidavit, the woman stated:

“You are in our sights, we want to kill you. … If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly, b*tch. You will be targeted personally, publicly, your family, all of it.”

Shry revealed to DHS officials that she left the voicemail but had no intention of harming Chutkan.

Donald Trump surrendered to the Fulton County Jail

On August 24, 2023, Donald Trump surrendered to the Fulton County Jail. The jail authorities also published a mugshot. In an interview with Newsmax, Trump discussed his experience, saying that he had no idea about indictments until he was “indicted like four times.”

He was only detained for 20 minutes at the Fulton County Jail. Following his release, he went to the airport and assured reporters that he and the other defendants were innocent.

“I’ve never had such support and that goes with the other ones too. What they’re doing is election interference,” he said.

Following an investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis, Donald Trump was charged with 13 counts. Mishandling confidential materials, scheming to defraud the government, corruptly hindering an official action, and other allegations were filed.
