Generative AI has been making the news this year capturing both public and big tech interest. Read to know more about the technology that is sparking a rush among big tech firms to launch their products.
What is Generative AI?
Generative artificial intelligence is a form of artificial intelligence allowing Ai to learn to take actions from past data. In other words, it is the creation of new content, based on training from data set instead of categorizing or identifying data. Chat GPT is the most famous example that has been making waves in recent months. GPT-4, its newest model is “multimodal” due to its ability to perceive images in addition to text. OpenAI’s president on Tuesday demonstrated how the technology can generate a real website based on a photo of the hand-drawn mockup plan.
More on the artificial intelligence race
Businesses across the world are putting generative AI to work for several tasks such as creating the first draft and taking meeting notes. Both Microsoft and Google’s new products include technology. The two companies are currently at the forefront of this technology in addition to their investment in using generative AI in widely used software such as Microsoft Word and Gmail. However, they are not alone in the race. Firms such as Salesforce Inc and Adept AI Labs are also creating competing AI software or packaging tech from others to provide new features.
Additionally, Elon Musk is also involved in the matter. Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI but left the board in 2018 to avoid conflict with Tesla and OpenAI’s work. In the past, he has expressed concerns about the need for regulation and the future of AI. “It’s quite a dangerous technology. I fear I may have done some things to accelerate it. Tesla’s doing good things in AI, I don’t know, this one stresses me out, not sure what more to say about it,” stated Musk.
