Before the November midterm elections, President Joe Biden visited his home state Pennsylvania and rolled out the ‘Safe America’ plan. Here’s more on the plan focused on tackling gun crimes in the US.
President Biden in Pennsylvania:
On Tuesday, President Biden railed against the “MAGA Republicans in Congress” refusing to condemn the US Capitol assault and now targeting the FBI ahead of the midterms in November. “It’s sickening to see the new attacks on the FBI, threatening the life of law enforcement and their families, for simply carrying out the law and doing their job. I’m opposed to defunding the police; I’m also opposed to defunding the FBI,” stated President Biden.
During his visit to Wilkes University, the President addressed public safety and gun violence, Touting his Safe Americal plan, he explained how he and the Democrats are trying to get an upper hand and tackle crime to protect people from drug and gun violence. He also called for $13 billion in funds to train and hire 100,000 new police officers. The money will also help in enhancing mental health in communities and schools and provide harsher punishment for dealing with fentanyl.

During his speech explaining the safer America plans, President Biden urged Republicans to help in restoring the assault weapons ban. He was joined by Gov. Tom Wolf, US Senator Bob Casey, and Josh Shapiro. Shapiro is the Democratic nominee for the governor’s seat. “I’m determined to ban assault weapons in this country. Determined. I did it once before, and I’ll do it again. I want to be clear: It’s not about taking away anybody’s guns. In fact, we should be treating responsible gun owners as examples of how every gun owner should behave,” stated Biden.
Over the next several days, Biden will be visiting his home state two more times. During these visits, he will deliver a prime-time speech from the Independence Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday. He will also be celebrating labor day in Pittsburg. Additionally, former President Donald Trump is going to hold a rally on Saturday in the Wilkes-Barre region to support Doug Mastriano and U.S. Senate candidate Mehmet Oz.
