Breezy Explainer: The British line of succession- Who is the next heir to the throne?

King Charles III will be formally crowned on Saturday at Westminister Abbey. Here’s a look into the British line of succession to the throne.

A look into the British line of succession:

With the accession of Charles III to the throne, Prince William, Charles, and Princess Diana’s firstborn is going to be the first in line to the throne. The Prince of Wales will be the next King while his wife, the Princess of Wales, Catherine will be the next Queen Consort. Their firstborn, Prince George of Wales is going to be the second in the British line of succession. The nine-year-old is currently studying at South London’s Thomas’s Battersea school.

Following her father and older brother, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana or Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Wales is the third in line. The eight-year-old princess is a student at the same school as her brother. The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, five-year-old Prince Louis Arthur Charles is the fourth in line.

Prince Harry is the fifth in line to the British throne

Despite stepping down from his official royal duties, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex is the fifth in line to the British throne. If none of the Waleses want the throne, Prince Harry will be up for the role. Prince Harry’s first child, Prince Archie Mountbatten-Windsor of Sussex is the sixth in the British line of succession. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second child, Princess Lilibet of Sussex is seventh of the line.
