The world was stunned by a shooting incident at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, confirmed that the 78-year-old is “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”
While global leaders have condemned the violence, a subset of users on X (formerly Twitter) drew a surprising parallel to the long-running animated series, The Simpsons. Known for its uncanny predictions, the show became a topic of discussion following the incident.
A viral post claimed that The Simpsons had foreseen Trump’s shooting. The user shared screenshots from an episode, commenting, “Simpsons got some explaining to do.”
Another user echoed, “No way The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump getting shot.” Another user expressed disbelief, noting that The Simpsons had “actually predicted Donald Trump’s assassination attempt.”
However, the image circulating widely on social media, with many suggesting that The Simpsons predicted Trump’s assassination attempt is fake. The animated show has never aired an episode featuring such a storyline.
In his first statement following the attempt on his life, Trump detailed the incident: “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.”
