All you need to know about Twitter Awards and coins

Creator-friendliness was one of Musk’s top priorities while taking over the popular social media platform. Here’s all you need to know about the Twitter awards and coins, the newest additions.

What are Twitter awards and coins?

As per Jane Manchun Wong, an app and security researcher, new features such as Twitter awards and coins are in the works. Last year, Wong was recognized by Forbes for “uncovering previously announced features on apps like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook through her intensive digital detective work”. In a tweet, she shared a screenshot where the award options appear as a gift icon in the tweet function bar. However, there was no following news about the feature.

As per Wong’s new Tweets, users can start awarding creators on the platform with a range of emojis, Gems, and crowns. The list also involves emojis such as super like, bravo, crown, rose, bullseye, and blown among others. The screenshot reveals each award has a corresponding “Twitter coins” value. For example, the silver award is worth 3,000 coins and the gold award is 5,000 coins. However, the rumored feature is very similar to Reddit’s awarding system.

More on buying coins and withdrawals

Twitter is working on a purchasing screen for the coins. Additionally, an individual menu item will be taking users to the purchase screen. Hence, the debut of the Twitter Awards may be released to the public soon. As per Wong, users will be able to buy coins through Stripe. However, creators will be able to withdraw money in fiat with a minimum threshold for the payout being $50.
