After years of anticipation, Xiaomi introduced its first electric vehicle, the SU7, during a ceremony in Beijing, China, hosted by CEO Lei Jun. Jun enthusiastically referred to Xiaomi SU7 as the “dream car” that Xiaomi has diligently constructed over the last three years. The SU7 is positioned as a full-size, high-performance eco-tech sedan, measuring 5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and with a 3 meter wheelbase. It strives to combine both elegance and functionality.
“We want it to be the best looking, easiest to drive, smartest car priced under half a million and it also needed to be a car of good quality. This is the dream car we built for our friends,” Lei Jun said during the launch event. “This is a full-size high-performance eco-tech sedan which is 5 metres long, 2 metres wide and has a wheelbase of 3 metres,” he added.
Xiaomi SU7: Price
Talking about the price, the standard version of the car, as shared by Lei Jun, costs 215,900 yuan in China. In addition to this, the car’s Pro and Max versions will be priced at 245,900 and 299,900 yuan, respectively.
The Xiaomi SU7 is available in nine colors. Xiaomi previously revealed three color possibilities for the automobile at the MWC in Barcelona last month. Six more alternatives have been added.
Xiaomi SU7: Features and design
The SU7 features a 220kW rear-wheel drive motor. The E-motor HyperEngine V8s are particularly impressive, with a maximum motor speed of 27,200 rpm, a powerful 425kW output, and a peak torque of 635Nm. Xiaomi had previously stated that this set a global record for E-motors, powering the car from 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds.
Meanwhile, the quickest version of the car claims to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and reach a top speed of 265 km/h. The automobile also has dual motors that produce 637 horsepower and 838 Newton meters of turbo power. In addition, SU7 is constructed on an 800-volt architecture, akin to Tesla’s Cybertruck.
Xiaomi’s SU7 also has eye-catching design features, such as slim water drop headlights, halo tail lights, and a unique hidden door handle. Inside, you’ll find a futuristic cockpit with many screens and advanced functions. The automobile runs Xiaomi’s Hyper OS, which integrates easily with the company’s other products, such as phones and tablets.
Range and hardware
Depending on the model, you could expect to travel anywhere from 700 to 900 km on one charge. The standard model has a range of 700 kilometers, while the SU7 Pro has an even longer range of 830 kilometers. The SU7 Max has over 900 miles of range.
The SU7’s autonomous driving capabilities include adaptive BEV technology, a Road-Mapping Foundational Model, and Super-Res Occupancy Network Technology. The vehicle’s hardware is powered by two high-performance NVIDIA Orin chips.
The SU7’s hardware includes LiDAR, eleven high-definition cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic radars. The interior has a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, and a 56-inch HUD. For increased convenience, travelers can place two tablets on the back seats.
