Tesla recalls 24K vehicles in the US over seat belt issue

Over 24,000 US-spec Model 3 cars from the years 2017 to 2022 are being recalled by Tesla due to a seat belt problem. The second-row left seat belt buckle and second-row centre seat belt anchor may have been improperly reassembled during vehicle service, according to the Austin-based electric car manufacturer.

It alerted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that there had been 105 service fixes reported for US vehicles, including warranty claims, that were or might have been connected to the recall issue.

Tesla is under criminal investigation in the United States

Meanwhile, earlier reports suggest that Tesla is under criminal investigation in the United States over claims that the company’s electric vehicles can drive themselves.

Following more than a dozen crashes, some of which were fatal, the US Department of Justice opened an investigation last year. The investigation of Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance technology was never previously made public.

The company would soon release an upgraded version of “Full Self-Driving” software: Musk

As early as 2016, Tesla’s marketing materials emphasized the car’s Autopilot features. Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, said it was “probably better” than a human driver during a conference call that year.

Last week, Musk said on another call Tesla would soon release an upgraded version of “Full Self-Driving” software allowing customers to travel “to your work, your friend’s house, to the grocery store without you touching the wheel.”

The driver is merely in the driver’s seat for legal reasons, according to a video on the company’s website. He is not acting in any way. The vehicle is self-driving. The business has additionally specifically advised drivers that while using Autopilot, they must keep their hands on the wheel and remain in control of their vehicles.
