Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai’s part supplier, displayed a pair of mobility concept vehicles with unique 90-degree rotation wheels. Hyundai showcased it at the recent CES 2022. The two machines are the battery-electric M.Vision Pop and M.Vision 2GO. Along with their revolutionary wheels, the concept vehicles, M.Vision Pop electric vehicle, and M.Vision 2GO hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, also provided communication lighting systems and cargo storage.
Hyundai Mobis first introduced these concept vehicles last year. Hyundai Mobis has been developing a system that merges the steering, braking, suspension, and driving systems into the wheel. Thereby, eliminating the need for any mechanical connections between pieces. The brand demonstrated it first at CES 2018. These vehicles feature a compact, boxy appearance. Advanced autonomous driving technology plays a large role in the overall concept. The main motive is shared mobility.
According to the company, this technology will assist these vehicles in managing space smartly and efficiently. It also implies that the wheels can rotate 360 degrees and sideways. Thus, making jobs like parking more convenient in the future. The company is currently doing reliability testing, which will then follow a mass production feasibility assessment. By 2023, Hyundai Mobis expects to have the technology placed on a working skateboard chassis.
Both the M.Vision Pop and M.Vision 2GO have been engineered to suit the folding steering wheel. The brand launched it last year. Hyundai Mobis Vice President of Communication Jin-ho Park expressed his delight at the excellent reception to his company’s invention at the occasion. “The vehicle technologies we are demonstrating at CES will help our OEM and technology partners achieve their future mobility goals, and it’s an honor to play a key role in that process,” Park further added.
