The unveiling date for Ferrari “revolutionary” new supercar is June 24. The company is yet to provide any specifics about the upcoming model. But a teaser film featuring the 2019 F1 Pro Series world champion David Tonizza suggests it will be a significant departure from the existing lineup.
The video doesn’t show the car itself. But it appears to show the Ferrari esports driver directing a real car. It also contains a brief audio clip of firing up an engine.
The new model is most likely to be the entry-level hybrid supercar revealed by Ferrari in 2018. The next car, codenamed F171, has expectations to employ an electrified V6 powertrain. It makes it the company’s first six-cylinder automobile since the Dino. It is the second hybrid capable of electric-only driving after the SF90 Stradale.
To compete with the 671bhp McLaren Artura, the car may employ a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 and a single electric motor with a combined output of about 700bhp. This new vehicle, unlike the all-wheel-drive SF90, will only have rear-wheel drive.
It’s unclear if the engine would be a completely new Ferrari design or if it connects to the 3.0-liter Nettuno engine. It also powered the recent Maserati MC20 supercar, though without any hybrid technology.
The hybrid powertrain will also be in the forthcoming Purosangue SUV. It will be crucial in the company’s electrification plans, which will include a completely electric vehicle by 2025.
