Ferrari, well known for its luxury multimillion-dollar cars, is recalling over 23,000 cars sold between 2005 to 2022. Here’s all you need to know.
Why is Ferrari recalling cars?
As per a report filed in June with the National High Traffic Safety Administration (NTHSA),19 of its cars suffered from risk brake failure. The report also adds that the vehicles are equipped with a bad brake fluid reservoir cap, creating a vacuum that can “potentially leak brake fluid, which may lead to partial or total loss of braking capability”. Hence to remedy this, they must replace the current reservoir caps on the cards, Additionally, they must install software ensuring warnings.
They are notifying all Ferrari owners of the recall by September 24. They had a similar recall in October 2021 regarding a break failure in over 10,000 models sold between 2010-15 and 2016-19. The recall includes a sizeable portion of all cars sold in th least seventeen years. As per Ferrari, if drivers are experiencing a low break fluid warning, they should immediately “pull off the road as soon as it is safe to do so, and then contact Ferrari Roadside Assistance and get towed to the nearest authorized Ferrari dealer”.
Fortunately, once the fluid decreases by 50 percent, a warning light will appear on the dashboard and later model vehicles will show a message reading “Brake fluid level low, Go to dealer slowly.” An audible buzzer may also sound in certain models.
More about the recall
Ferrari also encouraged users to pay attention to warnings related to break and break fluid. They are also encouraged to check the NHTSA recalls site to see if the recall affects them. Entering the vehicle Identification Number (VIN) provides useful details. However, the recall is not applicable for Ferrari models – 599 GTB, 575M Maranello, SF90, and 296.
Customers affected are asked to reach out directly by the website for assistance. The free fix will involve customers visiting a dealer. Here, a technician will replace the cap and update the warning software.
